“If you don’t have goals, how do you reach them?” |
On this video Lyndsey Adler talks about how she takes her pictures, what she does and wants with them to make them stand out and also is very precise with what she wants, she mentions that she likes her photographs to have a story, in this video her model stands in front of a mirror/reflection that has water sprayed onto it, her story is that the woman comes out of a nightclub, glancing at her reflection while it rains. Adler chose her model have slicked back hair, darker makeup while in a dark lighting to emulate the story of it being night while having neon lighting.
|
In this photoshoot Lyndsey Adler wanted bright colours so the models makeup, nails and the lighting and the semi transparent acrylic shapes were also bright and extremely colourful. The acrylic was used to create shadows and shapes on the models face. The colours used on the acrylics were colours that matches and contrasted well with each other. In the video we can see that a lot of the photos include the models hand, this was used to create a wide range of unique pictures.

I work with sewing, embroidery and drawing to explore the essence of signs in their physical manifestation. I take inspiration from my own personal experience and observation of how, in other cultures, bodies themselves are treated as living graphic symbols. - Maurizio Anzeri
Why this quote?
I chose this quote because it shows the work Maurizio Anzeri does and why he does it. It is also a inspirational quote and shows people other cultures. |

Maurizio Anzeri is an Italian contemporary artist living and working in London. He works in a variety of media including sculpture, photography, drawing and traditional craft techniques. He was born in 1969 (age 54 years) in Loano, Italy. Maurizio Anzeri sews and embroiders onto found photographs to examine how people use their own bodies as graphic illustrations. 'I work with sewing, embroidery and drawing to explore the essence of signs in their physical manifestation,' he says. Why this artist?

For me, art is a way to record my thoughts and feelings - Liza Kokin
Why this quote?
This quote is important as I find art is better when it has emotion in it and you can see how the artist was feeling and how they decided to show it through their art. |
Who is this artist?
Lisa Kokin creates her art with recycled and reclaimed materials she has found at flea markets, thrift stores, and recycling centers. In the past she has worked with buttons, photographs, and other found objects, but now she works mostly with books, the contents of which she shreds, blends, pulps, glues, and otherwise modifies before presenting them to her viewers in various states of recognition. Why this artist? I chose this artist because I take inspiration from Liza Kokin also because of her use of physical editing. Lisa Kokin uses faces often from old fashioned images, similar to how Anzeri uses images as well, however, instead of distorting them she uses the thread to represent families and peoples personal connections or a shared group feeling. |

I chose this artist because she is a professional photographer who focuses on portraiture, but primarily takes photographs of children. She does this because her style of photography is very soft and elegant and almost innocent, this reflects the girls in the photographs, bringing out their personalities. |
The collages I make express the duality in the human being, who we want to be versus who we really are and what part of us we want to show to others.
